Tunisian Social Solidarity Union is the main non-governmental organisation striving for the development of the feeling of solidarity and mutual aid. It is carrying out social and relief aid, self-development in favour of the deprived. TSSU is ruled by the low of associations N° 154 of 1959 as amended in 1988 and 1992. On December the 17th 1988, the TSSU replaced the National Committee for Social Solidarity.
Founded in 1964, it benefits since the political change in 1987 with a constant care to reinforce its structures, extend its network, grow its resources and intensify its action.
The TSSU interventions are extended to the whole Tunisian territory, and articulating around three types of programs:
Social promotion programmes :
Promotion of preschool children from needy families.
Aid to pupils and students from low income families.
Welfare programs :
Direct assistance to needy families or individuals whether occasionally or periodically.
Being in charge of needy elderly persons without family sport.
Taking care of mentally disabled people without family support.
